This is as close to handicapable accessibility as it gets… All the places the Emperor doesn’t go (to the kitchens for example) have the regular stairs because everyone else trips on them.In other news,The first volume of The Meek, comprising the first 3 chapters, is happening soon. I’ve never done a KS before and the amount of work involved is crazy. So many goddamn art assets. But, I think the end result will be pretty sweet. Here’s what’s going to be involved:-new 8 pg prologue comic -art/ formatting overhaul (the faces are so bad to me now) -bonus shit -actual merch, which I have never made before and am terrified of -some really insane level artists contributing art to a limited set of prints -moarAnyways it’s gonna be nuts. I’ll mostly just be excited to sleep again. I’ll be posting a preview of the cover tonight on Patreon… probably Thursday the new tutorial/ worksheet of the month goes up (please nab your files if you haven’t already!), then a SURPRISE that I’ve been holding out on until some time where I felt like a surprise was needed, which is now. I’ll post what it is when relevant~Oh yeah, last few days to back the Elements Kickstarter, I finally busted out my pages last last weekend, phew.Last but not IS ALIVEHello againThanks for your patience during the delay. If you’re on the Patreon you already know about it, but there was a death, and I’ve been out of town to support the family and help with the funeral and such. Been sneaking away in between all of that to finish this page, haha, a little bit rude… anyways this is my second funeral for 2016 so if we could cut it off right here that would be great~In case you missed the news, the Volume 1 Kickstarter is doing incredibly well, pretty much breaking all of my estimations. We’re over 300% funded with another 24 DAYS to go, and have unlocked most of our stretch goals, including french flaps on the softcovers, bonus comics, increased paper quality, and print art from the artists Tessa Stone, Gene Ha, Joy Ang, MissMonster, Ariel Ries, and even freakin’ Makani. We’re only making a very limited amount of hardcovers for Volume 1 and those tiers are running very low, so if you’d like one of those it’s probably better not to wait since I am not planning on printing any more~Additionally, I’m trying to be back on track with comics, but I mean… death. Obviously my priorities shifted. But I’m jumping back into the 12x update schedule with both feet once I’m home. For current Patrons, you can also access the new tutorial on researching for comics, as well as the 11-pg supplement that goes along with it. I’ve been spending increasing amounts of time on these tutorials, and I think this one is my favorite so far. Emails to $10+ patrons will be going out tonight, I’m actually traveling home in about 30 mins so hopefully I’ll be able to get more done once I’m back in my actual workspace!Agh I need to pack haha. I have more news probably but I need to go~~ next page will be as fast as I can manage. Let me know if you have any questions about the KS; I’ll probably be deleting the previous post when I get home~
Tue, 23 May 2017 08:00:22 +0000 The Meek | An epic adventure webcomic - 5.16 - August 20, 2016 http://www.meekcomic.com/comic/5-16/
THE MEEK VOLUME 1 KICKSTARTER – About 2 weeks left~One of those pages that takes 2 seconds to read and forever to draw, haha. Oh wait that’s all of them XDNot much going on, just chugging along. The Kickstarter is doing pretty great, we just unlocked a new digital comic (in addition to the new prequel comic!) for all comic backers. This new one will be in the same vein as The Tide, if you managed to get your hands on that somehow by now (it’s been around a while), and will cover some more side stories I’ve got kicking around that don’t really fit in the main narrative. We also moved a few more hardcovers from the upper-most tier to a lower one… these won’t be reprinted, and are being kept intentionally limited to this KS only because they annoy me (lol) so yeah, now’s probably the time to grab one. If the campaign reaches the last stretch goal, all physical orders will receive some more free gifts as well~I’ve been covering some of the guest artists for the print tiers as well! More info about Tessa Stone, Gene Ha and Joy Ang here, and a few more to come :] Was lucky enough to get reviewed by the AV Club this week as well! chapter so far:D :\ :D :\ :D :\so actingThanks so much again for looking at and helping the Meek V1 Kickstarter a success. We unlocked every single stretch goal, and finished at a bit over $116,000 (about 5x more than I ever expected, haha). This month is about catching up with updates, logistics, and finalizing some last deets before the book goes to print. Super excited! And for those who continue to ask, yes, the book will be available if you missed the KS… my primary goal now though is to get these books printed and sent out. Softcovers will go on general sale when that is all taken care of, sometime in 2017~And for Patrons, in case you missed it, a new tutorial that went up last weekend, as well as the support worksheet. In case you were confused, I’ve been:-redrawing and recoloring every page of the comic for the print version!! literally every single page. This took a very long time, and was worth it. -finalizing and ordering literally thousands of Meek reward items for KS backers… so much STUFF. -other boring logistical stuff that takes time to do. -patreon, Mare updates, etc, I slept a few times I think…So yeah, that’s where I’ve been… it is really important to me to make sure this book is as beautiful as possible so I decided to put the time in and really polish it the best I could. Hopefully all backers have picked up the Volume 1 wallpaper set already! If not, check out this post with info on how to redeem yours :] The PDF copies of the book will be going out this month, I am just running it past a lot of people first to make sure it (and the print pages) are completely perfect. If you missed the campaign, I will likely be opening up limited preorders, will post here on that when it happens. In other news, I finally set up email notifications! If you don’t like RSS or the unreliability of social media notifications, you can now get updates sent straight to your inbox.I know I tend to update randomly… my normal schedule is 1x a week at least (recently less due to book fulfillment duties) but I always upload at the random time I finish it. With email notifications, you don’t have to check back on the site manually, and will get a simple notification (here’s an example) as soon as new pages are posted~ yayLast, I’ve been still hard at work on other stuff… there’s a giveaway contest running both on Mare Internum and on the Patreon if you’re a MI reader! I’ll be doing giveaways more frequently now that I’m a Real Capitalist, will probably have some Kickstarter swag up for grabs in the upcoming months. The September tutorial was also pretty popular in case you missed it, and there are two whole supplements unlocked this month as well to sweeten the deal.Anyways, sorry that’s a lot of info XD Basically I’ve been staring at Meek stuff for the past month straight and you haven’t, but I am slowly sliding back on track with everything, so see you next week with the next page!
Wed, 24 May 2017 08:00:44 +0000 The Meek | An epic adventure webcomic - 5.20 - October 25, 2016 http://www.meekcomic.com/comic/5-20/
Time to spill the beans~No real updates, other than that the KS is coming along. I love it! By the way, if you’d like a Meek fanart linked here, don’t be shy to post to the comments and I’ll make sure to share it :] One thing I have found interesting, and which is possibly my fault, is that readers tend to be sort of critical of my female characters. I didn’t say anything in MI since I suspected it was because of a lack of deep backstory for the character (compared to other characters), but I think we know Rana well enough? I’m surprised that many people are angrier at her for supporting this idea of violent, vengeful action than they are at Luca for actually carrying it out. Maybe it’s because we know more about Luca and can internally justify it? because Suda is more likeable by comparison? or is it her unruly eyebrows, haha? Anyways, just a neutral observation for now, I’m looking forward to seeing if anyone changes their mind about it as the chapter progresses.Anyways!
